Follow the World Cup/ Suivez la Coupe du Monde
The World Cup will be taking place in Tromsø, Norway, from Aug 10 to Sept 3. The two games of the first round will start on Sunday, Aug 11 and Monday, Aug 12.
It is one of the most important tournaments of the year, as it will qualify the two finalists for the Candidates Matches. The 1,6 million dollars (US) prize pool is also pretty impressive. The prizes will be earned round by round, following this ladder.
128 players, who went through various qualification processes (mostly zonal tournaments, 2011 World Cup standings, Junior and Women's Championships and maintaining high rating) will be fighting in a knockout match tournament where the highest rated player plays against the lowest (seed 1 vs seed 128, 2 vs 127, etc)
If the two-games match ends 1-1, faster (active, then faster active, then 10 min blitz, then armaggeddon) tiebreak two-games matches will be played on Tuesday, Aug 13, 9 PM (EST)
The two Canadian players will face a strong opposition :

La Coupe du monde se tiendra à Tromsø, en Norvège, du 10 août au 3 septembre 2013. Les deux parties de la première ronde se joueront dimanche, 11 août et lundi 12.
Il s'agit de l'un des tournois les plus importants de l'année, puisque ses deux finalistes se trouvent qualifiés pour les Match des Candidats. Les bourses totalisent 1,6 millions US. Les prix seront distribués un peu comme au tennis, en fonction de la dernière ronde atteinte, selon l'échelle en annexe de cet article.
128 joueurs, qui ont traversé divers processus de qualification (principalement les tournois zonaux, la Coupe 2011, les championnats junior et féminin et le classement des cotes), s'affronteront dans un système de match de deux parties dont le perdant est éliminé. Le joueur le mieux coté (#1) affronte le joueur le moins coté de la ronde (#128).
Si le match se termine sur une égalité, un bris se fera en mini-match de deux parties plus rapides, de plus en plus rapides jusqu'à armageddon au cas où l'égalité se maintiendrait.
