Rapides de Montréal

Cette semaine se tenait la première édition des Rapides de Montréal, qui consistait de deux matches d’échecs entre quatre joueurs d’élite :
1 ) Maître international Jean Hébert, ancien champion du Canada vs maître international Raja Panjwani, ancien champion junior du Canada
2) Maître national Olivier Kenta Chiku-Ratté, 14 ans, vs Maître national Valentin Prahov, 80 ans
Il s’agissait de deux matches de deux parties semi-rapides de 15 minutes, plus 10 secondes d’incrémentation chaque coup

Résultats :
Jour 1 (jeudi 4 octobre 2013): Jean Hébert a triomphé face à Raja Panjwani, tandis que le jeune Olivier-Kenta Chiku Ratté a vaincu Valentin Prahov.
Jour 2 (vendredi 5 octobre 2013) : Raja Panjwani, pourtant en bonne position, laisse échapper la partie et doit se contenter d’une nulle. De façon similaire, Olivier-Kenta Chiku Ratté, qui a manqué quelques coups gagnants, ne peut qu’annuler face à son adversaire, en 90 coups.

Jean Hébert et Olivier-Kenta Chiku-Ratté remportent ainsi leurs matches par la marque de 1.5-0.5
Cet évènement, possible grâce au groupe immobilier Alfid, le Ministère de l'éducation, du loisir et du sport, la Ville de Montréal et la Fédération québécoise des échecs, sera de retour l’an prochain avec encore plus de commanditaires.

This week was held the first edition of the « Rapides de Montréal », which consisted in two chess matches between Canadian elite players :

1 ) International master Jean Hébert, former Canadian champion vs international master Raja Panjwani, former Canadian junior champion

2) National master Olivier Kenta Chiku-Ratté, 14 years old, vs national master Valentin Prahov, 80 years old

The matches consisted of two rapid games of 15 minutes with 10 seconds of increment.

Results :

Day 1 (Thursday October 4, 2013): Jean Hébert won against Raja Panjwani, while the young Olivier-Kenta Chiku Ratté triumphed over Valentin Prahov.

Day 2 (Friday October 5, 2013) : Raja Panjwani, who was in a good position, fell into a trap and, with some luck, only managed to draw.  In a similar way, Olivier-Kenta Chiku Ratté, who missed a few winning moves,  was only able to draw in no less than 90 moves.

Jean Hébert and Olivier-Kenta Chiku-Ratté then both won their matches 1.5-0.5 .
