The Candidates Tournament is coming ! The 8 candidates will play in a double round robin from March 12 to March 30, in Kanthy-Mansiysk, Russia. The winner of this tournament will be Carlsen's challenger. The Ex-USSR is very strongly represented with 6 players

  • Levon ARONIAN (2801), Armenia - Highest rating between July 2012 and August 2013
  • Vladimir KRAMNIK (2793), Russia - Winner of World Cup
  • Vishy ANAND (2775), Russia - Former Champion
  • Veselin TOPALOV (2774), Bulgaria - Winner of the 2012-2013 Grand Prix
  • Shakhriyar MAMEDYAROV (2757), Azerbaïdjan - Runner-up of Grand Prix
  • Sergey KARJAKIN (2756), Russia - Second highest rating
  • Peter SVIDLER (2752), Russia - Organizer's wild card (winner of Russian Championship)
  • Dmitry ANDREIKIN (2710), Russia - Runner-up of the World Cup
They will play one game a day with a free day every three rounds. Every player wins a prize, from $17000 to $95000. The reserve player is Fabiano Caruana. All games will be livestreamed from the tournament website (not online yet), as well as on chessbomb.
