Aronian wins Tata Steel Chess Tournament

The Tata Steel Chess Tournament (Formerly Wijk Aan Zee) came to an end yesterday, January 25. Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian dominated the competition with a 8/11 score worth a 2911 rating performance. His only loss was to the hands of local favorite Loek Van Wely, who will be playing in the next Canadian Open. Aronian commented afterwards that he regrets having spoiled his most interesting game (see below). Runner-ups are Sergei Karjakin and the undefeated Anish Giri, at 6,5/11. Both Karjakin and Aronian will be playing in the Candidates Tournament in March. The Aronian last round loss and the complete standings follow.
