Team Canada at NAYCC after six rounds

The North American Youth Chess Championship is currently being played in New York. With three rounds to go, a good number of young Canadians are still fighting for trophies or norms. For details about the prizes, visit the tournament website.

  • U18 open : David Itkin is alone in 4th place at 4/6, half a point behind. He still has a shot at the IM title at stake here. Yanchen Zhang and Jason Cao follow in a big tie at 3.5/6. Standings
  • U16 open : John Doknjas is tied for second at 4/6, half a point behind. William Graif is having a tougher tournament, at 2.5/6. Standings
  • U14 open : Jeffrey Xu and Kevin Wan are tied for third at 4.5/6, a full point behind the leader Jason Shi. The heavy favorite Nicholas de T. Checa (2381 !!) is tied with the Canadians at 4.5. Standings
  • U12 open : Lots of Canadians in this section. Joshua Doknjas and Jason Cai are part of a massive tie at 4/6, one point behind. Standings
  • U10 open : Another very dense section, Two Canadians are in the top 6 : Kevin Low is tied for second at 5, and Nicholas Vettese follows at 4.5. Standings 
  • U8 open : The only Canadian leader ! Issani Nameer, the favorite, is tied for first at 5/6. Noorali Aahil ties for fourth at 4.5. Standings
  • U18 girls : Regina-Veronica Kalaydina and Qiyu Zhou are tied for third at 3.5/6, two points behind the leader Rachel Gologorsky. Standings
  • U16 girls : The only Canadian, Rachel Long-Xin Cao, ties for 7rh at 2.5. Standings
  • U12 girls : Sasha Konovalenko and Lily Zhou tie are part of a three-way tie at 4.5, half a point behind the leader. Standings
  • U10 girls : Canadian and 10th seed Kylie Tan is tied for first (!) at 4.5/6. Standings
