Hi everyone!
Let's kick off this week's batch of suggestions with Michael Kleinman's recommendation: a very intersting article titled "Refuting the refutation" written by a German mathematician who holds a PhD. from Harvard.
On a different note, David Zhou recently confessed to me spending hours on end watching the videos posted by IM Greg Shahade on chessvideos.tv. Sounds promising! You can find some of these videos here.
Félix Dumont has two links to offer this week: the first is Goddesschess, a blog which Félix describes as a great way to learn about women's chess or cool history facts (not necessarily chess related).
The second link Félix has to offer is particularly interesting. It wil lead you to a free app for android developped by a Canadian: Gerhard Roth, a researcher at Carleton University. This app enables you to get a pgn file and a FEN string for any position you photograph with your phone's camera. How awesome is that?! You can have a look at the free version of the app on Google Play. More information is available on Dr. Roth's website and he even posted a video on Youtube explaining a few things about the app.
My vote this week goes to TheChessWebsite's Youtube Channel (I know, I spend too much time on Youtube!). These people have posted so many great videos about famous games, openings, traps, endgames etc. that it's hard to keep track! The videos are usually informative and entertaining. You should also have a look at their website.
That's it for now, I'll be looking forward to posting another column next week!
