Quebec Amateur Championship Results- Just how good is Zong Yang Yu ?
The Quebec Amateur Championship concluded Monday, Oct 12, with a stunning 2500+ performance by U16 master Zong Yang Yu, who only obtained his national master title two months ago. He finishes first with Bator Sambuev at 5.5/7 (Both undefeated), half a point ahead of NM Steve Bolduc and FM Valerian Hirschberg. NM Yu will reach the 2400s, and with that the top 4 active players in Quebec, just behind GMs Kovalyov, Sambuev and IM Hebert.
Youngsters WCM Maili-Jade Ouellet (U2000, 6/7) and Hou Han Zhang (U1700, 5/5, shared with Michael Hollander) both won their sections, as well as Georghe Raduica (U1400, 5.5).
