When: Rounds on Friday December 19th at 6:00pm, Saturday December 20th 10:00am & 4:00pm, Sunday December 21st 10:00am & 4:00pm

Where: The Great Hall, Main Floor, Hart House, University of Toronto, 7 Hart House Circle

Prize fund: $5000 based on 120 entries!

Rating: All sections will be CFC rated. Open & Under 2200 sections will also be FIDE rated.

Style: Five rounds in 4 sections – Open and Under 2200 sections (FIDE Rated): 120 minutes total per player plus 30 second increment from the start. Under 1900 & Under 1600 Sections: 90 minutes for the first 30 moves, then 60 minutes sudden death.

 

Byes: Maximum 2 half-point byes in rounds 1-4 if requested in advance before the start of Round 1.

After pre-registering with the form, you must bring cash payment to the playing site before 5:30pm on December 19th, 2014 or mail a cheque which arrives by December 17th, 2014.

 

Online registrations with the form must be completed by December 17th, 2014, or else considered late.

Online registrants must arrive onsite by 5:30pm on December 19th, 2014 to pay in cash or will not be guaranteed a pairing in Round 1. No cheques on site.

You can also register in advance by mailing a cheque (arrival by December 17th, 2014). Make cheque payable to Hart House Chess Club. No postdated cheques please. Mail to: Hart House Chess Club, 7 Hart House Circle, Toronto ON, M5S 3H3.

Registrants after December 17th, 2014 are not guaranteed to be paired in Round 1, and must pay onsite entry fee ($90).

Players taking a bye in Round 1 can pay the entry fee twenty minutes before the start of Round 2.

Entry Fee: $70 in advance, $90 cash only on site; Extra $20 to play up in each section. Playing up is allowed only for players within 100 rating points of the section’s minimum rating. For example: a player in the Under 1600 section who wants to play up in the Under 1900 section must have a rating no lower than 1500.

 

Discounts: $20 less for juniors (born after Dec. 19th, 1996), seniors (born before Dec. 19th, 1954), women, and University of Toronto students. Only one discount per player. Free entry for IMs and WIMs if registered by December 12th, 2014.

Special Discount: Free entry for players who have never played in any CFC or FIDE rated tournaments before. Chess Federation of Canada (CFC) membership purchase still required for $48, and entrants will not be eligible for prize money.
