Thierry Le Duin (1968-2015)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thierry Le Duin, vice-president of the Quebec Chess Federation (FQE). Thierry was a member of the FQE's executive since 2009  and participated in the organization of numerous tournaments. He was the main organizer of the Quebec Youth Championships, and an arbiter at the 2014 CYCC in Montreal. He insisted on organizing the 2015 Quebec Youth Championships in January, even with his fight against cancer. He was also involved in the Varennes Chess Club, which organizes every year the Varennes Open ($8000 in prizes).

He has been a high school mathematics teacher since 1997, following the obtention of his PhD in Astronomy in 1995. 

He leaves to mourn his son William and his friend Mélanie.
