Canada's newest (and youngest) national master

Nicholas Vettese recently obtained his third and final national master norm at the 2015 Hart House Reading Week tournament. He scored 2.5/5 (not playing in the sixth round), with a performance of 2351, including a win against FM Dougherty.

Born in 2004, Nicholas is not only Canada's youngest master, but might be the youngest master in the CFC's history. However, it would be difficult to determine exactly who holds this record, as the CFC changed its rating formula and the master requirements a few time over the years.

In any case, we will closely follow his progression and wish him the best of luck in getting a FIDE title in the next couple of years!
