

The Quebec Chess Federation organizes a small tournament during the Quebec Open, called the ''Mini-COQ'' (COQ = Championnat Ouvert du Québec).
This could be of interest for out-of-town players. The tournament consists of two rounds between the players of the Mini-COQ (on July 20) and two rounds with the other players of the Quebec Open (on July 21). Players who have a good result can choose to continue playing in the Quebec Open (9 rounds).

Two independant rounds (1 and 2) + 2 rounds with the other players of the Quebec Open (players register in the section of their choice).
Prize Fund : $600 (1st 300, 2nd 200, 3rd 100) (Best score regardless of the section)
Registration : $ 30 for all.
By mail at the Quebec Chess Federation 4545, Pierre-de-Coubertin, Montréal H1V 0B2.
Schedule : Saturday July 20 - special rounds 1 and 2 (11 AM and 6 PM) ; Sunday July 21 - Quebec Open roundsand 4 (11 AM and 6 PM).
Byes : Only one possible bye (round 1 or 2).
It is possible to continue playing in the Quebec Open after the Mini-COQ, if the player pays the regular on-site entry fee minus 10%.
