McGill Open!

The marquee event of the McGill Students' Chess Club is this weekend!

This is the fifth edition of the event and the fourth consecutive year that it has been on the Tour du Québec (7th tournament out of 10). It is hosted by the co-contributors of this Newsfeed, the McGill Students' Chess Club. Similar to last year, the event offers moderate prizes for a low cost entry fee. There is the championship section (2000+) rated CFC, FQE and FIDE, and two reserves sections (U2000 & U1500) rated FQE. The total prize fund is $2000, with $1400 going to the top section.

Date: April 29-May 1, 2016

Place: Shatner Building (Student Society Building) 3480 rue McTavish, Montreal, QC

5-10 minutes of walk from Peel or McGill Station. 5 min walk from shops on Sherbrooke.
Tournament Format: 5 rounds Swiss, bring your own clock.
Time Control: G/90 with 30 second increment each move.


Entry: 

A: 55 (regular), 40 (junior), 35 (McGill student/faculty; National Masters). Alumni/former staff may benefit from McGill pricing

New: $10 fee will be charged if rating is under 2000

$10 surcharge starting April 1st; $20 surcharge starting April 28th

B, C: 35 for all

$5 surcharge starting April 1st; $10 surcharge starting April 28th
