Russian Superfinal
October 16-27, 2016
Novosibirsk

Two 12-player round robins to decide the men's and women's Russian Championship.

Russia's top-rated players are not playing -- Kramnik is getting treatment for arthritis, and Karjakin is preparing for his World Championship match in November) -- but it's still an extremly strong event, with Grischuk, Svidler, Tomashevsky, Vitiugov, Inarkiev, Jakovenko all over 2700.

In the women's event, former Women's World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk and three-time Russian champion Valentina Gunina are the top seeds.
