FM Shiyam Thavandiran had his second strong performance this fall to push his FIDE rating over 2400 at the 2017 SPICE Cup, thereby filling the last of his qualifications for the IM title! Our GOTW is the final round board 1 game at the 2017 Aurora Open between Sam Marin and IM Nikolay Noritsyn.
With a 495 point rating difference between them it would be reasonable to expect this would be another instructive Master vs Amateur game. It is instructive, but probably not the way you expect...
