The 41st annual World Open will take place from June 29th to July 7th, in Arlington VA (a few miles from Washington DC).
We usually limit ourselves to Canadian tournaments, but numerous Canadians participate every year and it is not uncommon to see them achieve a norm.

Three Canadians, GM Eric Hansen, IM Aman Hambleton and Elias Oussedik are playing in the 2nd Server24 Chess Festival, in Ortisei, Italy.
So far, GM Eric Hansen is having a good tournament, with 4/5.

Today, I will annotate a game from the Gatineau Open between the current Canadian Senior Champion and the top rated 13-year-old girl in the country. White's opening is appropriate for such an occasion (solid and strategic), yet he is unable to avoid tactics altogether as is often the case.

IM Edward Porper, from Alberta, scored a GM norm at the Chicago Open, with an impressive 6.5/9! He finishes ahead of 18 GMs.
