Eric Hansen ties for 2nd place in London

Eric hansen finished with 7/9 in the London FIDE open (held at the same time as the London Chess Classic) and tied for the second place. The tournament winner was GM Benjamin Bok, who defeated Eric in round 8 and GM Lenderman in round 9.

Aman Hambleton in Lithuania

Aman just finished playing in the "GM Gigant Chess Panevezys 2015", in Panevėžys, Lithuania. He scored 4.5/9, which is unfortunately not enough for a GM norm.

Full results are available here.

BOTW 2015.12.04

"I think I would beat Tal pretty easily. Fischer would be more difficult, but I think I could beat him too."
- Magnus Carlsen

'I like to play chess with old men in the park, although it's hard to find 32 of them.'
- Emo Phillips

Tactics: Perpetual or Not?

It's Black to move in the game Bark - M.Plotkin from the 2015 Ontario Open.

GOTW : Olivier Kenta Chiku-Ratte vs Hong Rui Zhu (Varennes Open 2015)

It was not my intention to use two of Olivier's games for the GOTW, but this one could not be overlooked. It's not every day a strong national master loses in 18 moves!
