Anton Kovalyov was forfeited in Round 3.1 at the 2017 World Cup in Tibilisi Georgia today.
UPDATE: Anton has left the World Cup to protest his treatment by organizer Zurab Azmaiparashvili.

The round 1 rapid tiebreaks were played today in Tibilisi. Most of the rating favourites advanced, including Wei Yi, who eliminated Canadian GM Bator Sambuev.

GM Victor Mikhalevski won the 2017 Calgary International. He scored 7.5/9 to finish clear first in a field of 34, including five GMs. Mikhalevski won the Calgary International in 2010 and 2014.
