The CFC Regular Chess Post – Nov. 15/12 - Ottawa Winter Open.

Starts Tomorrow!! An EOCA Grand Prix Event

Date: November 16-17-18, 2012
Place: RA Centre, 2451 Riverside Drive, Ottawa - Courtside rooms A & B.
Rounds: 5, Friday 7:30 PM Saturday & Sunday @ 10 AM & 3 PM.

Type: Regular Swiss

Sections and prizes are based on projected entries and may change.

Open - (rated FIDE & CFC); 1st $400, 2nd $200 3d $100: U2200 $100;
U 2000 – ( rated CFC); 1st $200, 2nd $125 3rd $75; U1800 $100;
U1600 – (rated CFC) 1st $125, 2nd $75 3rd 50.


Time Control: Game-in-90-plus-30-seconds-a-move, or SD/120 with analog clock

Entry Fee: Open $60 if pre-registered, $70 at site;
U2000 $60 if pre-registered, $70 at site;
U1600 $40 if pre-registered, $50 at site.

Add $20 if playing up a section. A player must be 100 points or less from the rating floor for the section he wants to play up in.

Amateur entry is $30. Amateur entrants are not eligible for prizes. Amateur entrants will be used in a higher or a lower section, if needed, to avoid giving a BYE to a player.

Free entry for GM/WGM & IM/WIM if entered by e-mail by November 12th.

CFC or FQE membership is required.

Requesting byes: max of two ½ point byes in the first four rounds.

, Richard ( IM ) – U 14 Open – After 4 rounds, Richard had a perfect score ( the only other Canadian with 4/4 was Harmony ). Richard drew his Rds. 5 & 6 games, giving him then, 5/6 pts..

4.5/6 pts.

Zhu
, Harmony – U 8 Girls – Going into Rd. 5, Harmony had a perfect score. In Rd. 5, she drew the top rated player in her section, Judit Juhasz of Hungary, rated 1710 FIDE, giving her 4.5/5 pts.. In Rd. 6, she had to play the #3 seed, Taisiya Tereshechkina, from Russia – she lost, and so after 6 rounds, had 4.5/6 pts.

Washimkar, Arhant – U 8 Open – After 3 rounds, had a perfect score. He then lost Rd. 4, drew Rd. 5, and won Rd. 6, to give him 4.5/6 pts..

, Razvan – U 14 Open – After 6 rounds, he had 4 wins and 2 losses, for 4/6 pts..

Zhou, Qiyu – U 12 Girls – After 3 rounds, had a perfect score. On the completion of Rd. 5, she had 4/5pts.. But she lost in Rd. 6, leaving her with 4/6 pts. after 6 rounds.

Cao, Jason ( FM ) – U 12 Open – After 6 rounds, he had 4 wins and 2 losses, for 4/6 pts..
