Quebec Open Final Results - July 31, 2011

Canadian IM Nikolay Noritsyn captured 1st place in the Quebec Open, which wrapped up yesterday. His score of 7/9 included victories over 4 grandmasters. It would appear that he achieved his first GM norm. Generally three such results are required for the title. Cuban GM Walter Arencibia followed up his 1st place tie in the Canadian Open with a second place finish here, alone with 6.5

Montreal GM's Antony Kovalyov and Bator Sambuev tied for 3rd with 6 points, while IM elect Bindi Cheng and Michael Kleinman were among those tied for 6th with 5.5. Kleinman's performance wold have probably earned him an IM norm, but he didn't play enough foreign players.
