The CFC Regular Chess Post – Nov. 16/11 – Manitoba Junior Championship.

- Open to Manitoba Juniors born in 1992 or later (under 20);


Dates: Open - Nov 19 – 20; Novice – Nov. 20;
Location: University of Winnipeg - Rooms 1L04 and 1L06;
Sections: Open (recommended that participants be rated at least 1400); Novice;
Rounds: 4 ( possibly 5 for Novice Section );
Time Control: Open - Game / 90 + 30 second increment; Novice - Active;
;Entry Fee: $ 15 - CFC Rated (CFC Membership not required !);
Guaranteed Prizes for Open: 1st $ 40; 2nd $ 30; 3rd $ 20. If the winner travels to the National Championship in Calgary - $ 200 will be available for travel expenses. Winner (if rated over 1900) qualifies for 2012 Manitoba Championship.

The CFC Regular Chess Post – Nov. 15/11 – WYCC. The WYCC starts this Thurs., Nov. 17 ( Rd. 1 – Nov. 18 ) and runs to Nov. 27. Our team members will soon be departing for Brazil, where it is being played. There are 9 possible playing days - the playing schedule is nine rounds with a double round day for the 3rd and 4th rounds followed by a rest day. Played: Nov. 12-13 at Royal Scott Hotel and Suites, 425 Quebec St., Victoria, B.C.; Type: 5 rd. swiss; Prizes: 1st: $75, U1800 $50. (Guaranteed). Registrants – 21 players, from 933 to 2062; Winners: Ruining [Ray] Wu ( 2029 ) - 4.0; James Chan ( 2005 ) - 4.0 ( Note: Games between CFC players rated but CFC membership was not required – an interesting approach to trying to get non-CFC members interested in eventually playing fully-rated CFC tournaments, and taking out CFC membership ).
