Magnus Carlsen won his final round game to move into a tie with Levon Aronian at the Tal Memorial. Carlsen won the title on tie-break (most blacks).
As suspected, Hou Yifan was able to draw the 8th match game and retain the World Women's title with a score of 5.5-2.5.
The World Youth is complete. Russia was the dominant country with a total of 7 medals. Michael Song from the Toronto area took home the bronze medal in U12.
Saturday, the London Classic starts. Another tournament with the full 2800 club: Carlsen, Aronian, Anand, and Kramnik (who has dropped below 2800 on the live list).
