The same set of events will be going in Beijing, again next year.

Canadian Co-Champion, Eric Hansen just competed in a Strong GM event: the U of Texas Dallas Invitational (he's a freshman there). He finished with 4/9 in 7th place (about par for his rating). Top rated Alexander Onischuk won with a score of 7.

The Women's World Team Championship is taking place in Turkey. The top ranked teams include Russia (the Kostintseva sisters), China (Hou Yifan), and India (Humpy Koneru). After 3 rounds of play China leads with 6 match points, closely followed by Russia and India, both with 5. The event is a 10 team round-robin. Interestingly enough there is no team from the Americas.
