The CFC Regular Chess Post – March 22/12 – SFU Open/Junior Tournament.
Starts Tomorrow!! Friday March 23 (evening), Saturday March 24, Sunday March 25
ROUNDS: Five rounds: Friday @ 6pm, Saturday @ 11am + 3pm, Sunday @ 10am + 2pm/ASAP
REGISTRATION: Friday from 5pm-6pm
LOCATION: SFU Burnaby Campus (8888 University Drive), Vancouver/Burnaby. A 10-minute express bus ride from the skytrain (Production Way). Also easily accessible by car. Less than a 30 minute drive from downtown Vancouver or Surrey.
TIME CONTROL: 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move
ENTRY FEE: $20
PRIZES: 100% of entries minus CFC rating fees will be returned as prizes
CFC membership is required as the even will be CFC rated. Membership can be purchased at the tournament.
**CONCURRENT JUNIOR TOURNAMENT**
DATE: Saturday, March 24, there will be a tournament for juniors held at the same location. (Juniors with tournament experience are of course encouraged to play in the open tournament.)
ROUNDS: Four rounds: 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm
SECTIONS: Multiple sections based on age/ability if numbers permit
ENTRY FEE: $10
PRIZES: 100% of entries will be returned as prizes
The juniors-only event will be rated with the BC Junior Chess rating system.

Type: 5 round Swiss - one section – CFC & FIDE rated.
Time Control: Game in 90 + 30 second increment..

On-site Registration: Saturday, March 24, 9am to 9:45am.
Advanced entries required to check in at registration desk by 9:45 a.m. or you will not be paired for first round.

The CFC Regular Chess Post #2 – March 18/12 – Hamilton Winter Open Result.
Dates: March 17 & 18
Type: 5 round Swiss. This is a SWOCL grand prix event.
Place: Winston Churchill Secondary School, 1715 Main Street East.

Organizers: Garvin Nunes, Bob Gillanders, Mikhail Egorov, Joe Ellis, Gordon Gooding and the Hamilton City Chess Club.
Winners: Open Section – FM Victor Plotkin and WCM Jackie Peng shared 1st place with 4.0 and won $400 each. IM Arthur Calugar, FM Jura Ochkoos, junior Razvan Preotu and Gordon Gooding shared 3rd with 3.5 and won $25 each.
