IM Norm at the Quebec Open / AIDEF Championships!

By drawing his round 8 game against GM Samy Shoker, Olivier Kenta Chiku-Ratté managed to score an IM norm (regardless of the result of round 9)!

International Championships of French-Speaking Countries (Quebec Open) : Results and live games!

The first round is today, July 17, at 6 PM (Montreal/Toronto time). The tournament is organized by the Quebec Chess Federation in Montreal, in collaboration with the AIDEF (International chess association of French-speaking countries).

2015 Canadian Closed

43 players registered for the 2015 Canadian Closed Championship (FIDE Zonal). GMs Hansen and Sambuev (defending champion) will try to qualify for the World Cup, but they might be surprised by one of the 6 IMs!

 

The CYCC starts Monday!

There are now 272 registered players for the 2015 CYCC. Surprisingly, the U18G section still has no participant, and the U18 section only has 4.  However, other sections, such as the U12 with 56 players, have numerous strong contenders. 

Canadian Zonal : Regsitration

The 2015 Canadian Zonal Championship will take place from July 9 – 16 at the Guelph University Centre.

2015 CYCC : All the information you need

The past CYCCs have all been huge successes, and everything seems to indicate that the 2015 CYCC, in Windsor, will be at least as successful. The organizers have secured a nice venue, organized huge qualifying events and created a great website.

Already 14 countries are represented at the upcoming AIDEF Championships/ Quebec Open in Montreal! This includes GMs Hansen, Sambuev, Edouard (France), Bouaziz (Tunisia).

Championnat Ouvert de la Mauricie (Trois-Rivières open)

The Championnat Ouvert de la Mauricie, held in Trois-Rivière every year in March is back for another (41st!) edition, this year on March 20-22.
