Olympiad: Selection of the 5th spot of National team narrows down to 6 people

The 42nd Chess Olymiad will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 1 september to 14 septermber (moved from original schedule of late Sept.). The CFC will send one team of 5 to Baku.

The North American Youth Chess Championship is back in Canada!

Canadian Senior Championship 2016 (June 24-26 2016, Surrey, BC)

If you will be 50 yrs old or better in 2016, you are invited to compete at the 2016 Canadian Senior Chess Championship.

It is not easy for a University to be repeat champions for two or three years in a row. For that to happen, it needs many stars to align. First, it needs a strong core group of players similar in year and age.

Article on the Sault Ste. Marie 2017 CYCC and CO

Wawa-news features an article on the tournaments, which have recently been awarded to Sault Ste. Marie. The organizers expect to inject  over $1 million into the local economy, which represents a large amount of money for a town of 75000 inhabitants.

Follow the 2015 Montreal Open

192 players are currently playing in the Montreal Open this weekend, including three GMs (Le Siège, Roussel-Roozmon, Sambuev) and ten other titled players fighting for the $6250 prize pool. The second round started about an hour ago.
