Kovalyov defeats Kasimdzhanov

Canadian GM Anton Kovalyov won his first round match at the World Cup in Baku, defeating former FIDE World Champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov in a blitz playoff.

8/14/2015 – This event was staged in the multicultural city of Kitchener, Canada from July 26 to 30, and attracted 65 players from around North America to compete in the open section and girls section. Neither of the top seeds placed with a medal. One of them, Qiyu Zhou, sent us a lovely report.

10 Canadians participated to the 26th NATO Chess Championship in Amsterdam, 6-10 July 2015.

2015 CYCC : Results and pictures

This year's CYCC was again a big success, thanks to the hard work of Windsor's team of volunteers. Congratulations to the winners, who will be able to represent Canada at the World Youth Chess Championships in Greece!

Lesiège defeats Bareev!

A match between GMs Lesiège and Bareev was organized in Montreal : 15m+10s on Sunday. June 28. 7:30 pm, 3423 St-Denis, Montreal.

TORO (Gatineau) Results

Four players tied for first at the TORO (Tournoi ouvert régional de l'Outaouais) : GM Sambuev, IM Hambleton, NM Qin and NM Vettese. Each of them will bring home $500.

Alex Danilov won section B ($750), while Lucas Bernatchez won section C ($550).

The Quebec Youth Chess Championship took place last weekend. 75 players fought for a part of the 10,000$+ prize fund (in CYCC travel expenses and gift certificates).
