2013 WYCC : Comments from IM Hambleton

Some might have noticed the new look of Canadian Youth Team blog.

Here's some observations from IM Aman Hambleton :

Canadian Game of the Week : Kaifeng Yu (CHN) - Luke Pulfer (CAN)

A great win for one of Canada's biggest hopes for a medal at this year's World Youth Chess Championships in the United Arab Emirates is Luke Pulfer's win over FM Kaifeng Yu in the sixth round. Luke stands at 5.5/7 and we wish him all the best in the rest of event. Check out this exciting upset!

2014 Quebec Carnival Tournament

The Ste-Foy Chess Club is hosting its annual Tournoi d'échecs du Carnaval on Jan 24-25-26, in Quebec City.

Game of the Week : Diwen Shi (CAN) - Edward Song (USA)

I am replacing FM Louie Jiang this week in order to analyze a game from the WYCC. The choice was difficult, as Team Canada had quite a lot of nice victories.

Tactics: Attacking Practice

White has more than one way to win in this position from Gerzhoy - Lenderman (Continental Class, 2013). Leonid played the most forcing, but attacking fans might want to find a second way.
