Michael Song is 2013 Toronto Champion !

After seven weeks of play, the Toronto Closed recently came to an end, crowning young star Michael Song who scored 5.5/7, only losing to runner-up FM Roman Sapozhnikov, and drawing against the other runner-up, FM Victor Plotkin. Both finished at 5/7.

The 8th Edmonton International Chess Festival will be held at the Edmonton Chess Club on June 22-July 1st.

The Montreal Chess Club (CEM) is the biggest chess club in Quebec. Its members meet two times a week at the Strategy Games building on St-Denis St. (Wednesday and Friday) to play one standard game in a monthly rotation tournament. Contact reti@videotron.ca for further information.

The 41st annual World Open will take place from June 29th to July 7th, in Arlington VA (a few miles from Washington DC).

We usually limit ourselves to Canadian tournaments, but numerous Canadians participate every year and it is not uncommon to see them achieve a norm.
