98th B.C. Championship

The 98th B.C. Championship has started! The highest rated player, Jack Yoos, will try to win the title for the sixth time, while last year's winner, Butch Villavieja, unfortunately lost his first game against the young Ryan Lo.

2014 Canadian Open and CYCC : Official Website

The 2014 Canadian Open Chess Championship and Canadian Youth Chess Championships will be organized in downtown Montreal next summer. At least 600 players are expected in total and the tournaments will be held at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth (*****).

2013 Quebec Elite and Par Classe Championships

The Quebec Chess Federation will be organizing both events together this year on Thanksgiving weekend. The Par Classe is still a 5-rounds tournament where players must play in their rating section, and the Elite is still a single section 2000+ (1800 for juniors) 7-rounds Swiss tournament.

Montreal Open : results

The Montreal Open Chess Championship was held last weekend. The turnout was much lower than expected (153 players), but was still reasonable. GM Sambuev completely dominated the tournament, finishing with 5/5.
