The Quebec Amateur Championship concluded Monday, Oct 12, with a stunning 2500+ performance by U16 master Zong Yang Yu, who only obtained his national master title two months ago. He finishes first with Bator Sambuev at 5.5/7 (Both undefeated), half a point ahead of NM Steve Bolduc and FM Valerian Hirschberg.

This week I present you a game by Bator Sambuev and Razvan Preotu at the recently concluded Aurora Fall Open. Not only was ths game was important in deciding the eventual tournament winner, but it was interesting as well. Enjoy.

A few Canadians participate in the Millionaire Chess tournament, with $1 000 000 in guaranteed prizes. The highest rated player of the first section is GM Wesley So, but GMs Xiangzhi Bu and Quang Liem Le, as well as a few others, will also be fighting for the $100 000 first prize.

There was a lot of coverage of Qiyu's performance at the WYCC, but other Canadians fared well. Maïli-Jade also lead her section for some time, before losing three games in a row.
