This week, I present to you a game played by Mark Plotkin, a member of Canada's second team at the World u16 Olympiad. In this game, he opted for a solid setup against an IM from Ukraine, and gradually took the initiative. Enjoy.

15 Canadian players at the Under 16 Olympiads in Hungary

Canada is sending three teams to theUnder 16 Olympiads in Hungary. Canada's strongest team is the 6th highest rated team in the tournament. 

We wish them good luck and will follow their results very closely!

Hansen tied for third in London

The London Chess Classic Super Rapidplay was being played in London in the last week. This huge 10 round Swiss tournament featured 35 GMs, including many super-GMs like Nakamura, Caruana, Anand and Kramnik. Nakamura (who else ?) placed first at 9.5, a complete point ahead of Anish Giri (8.5).

Canadian Forces Fall 2014 Chess Tournament

The fourth Canadian Military Fall team tournament was held at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum in Ottawa on November 29, 2014. It was the first time that this tournament was held outside a military base. This gave the opportunity to team members to enjoy a free visit to the air museum between rounds.
